Dane Patterson is an American artist using photo-realistic details to offer his vision of objects that come from realistic or imaginary worlds.
The KOGAN gallery invited the artist for a personal exhibition of his last pieces of artwork. The artist, recently seen at Art Plural or at the last edition of the Art Paris Art Fair, took the opportunity to make us indulge into his heterogeneous world. A collection of various objects, which are placed, moved around, and linked together to become an ensemble, are selected by Dane who chose the categories to be studied after some photographs and his dailylife.
They are then associated to some modelled objects- archetypes whose roots he tries to find on the internet.
If webs are one of his topics in his research, they announce the various connections that his drawings provide : a mix of familiar and unusual objets which gather in graphic compositions of objects, communicating in spaces which are deprived of their meaning.
The objects which has been displaced from its natural environment gives a new vision of itself.
The compositions allow a game of hypothetical meanings, in carefully chosen settings.
